i4c Campaign

We invite you to show your support for a better tomorrow by making donations to our featured charity, Grameen America. We have launched a mobile giving platform that provides you the opportunity to donate to Grameen America by using your mobile phones. By sending a text message that says “i4c” to 85944, you are helping women rise out of poverty through microfinance.

ABOUT i4c

Every day we encounter poverty, disease, environmental degradation and other global issues. Or simply, as Lilith’s Sarah McLachlan once said, “the world is on fire.”

Yet in a recent movement, entrepreneurs have emerged as leaders, focusing their passion and innovations on fighting our fires. Many businesses now focus on the triple bottom line – people and planet, in addition to profit. Through sustainable business, ideas are becoming reality and we are finding real solutions.

The i4c Campaign (acronym for “I foresee a better tomorrow”) was created to support a responsible economy. We are proud to announce the Lilith i4c Campaign, Lilith Fair’s 2010 commitment to support innovative entrepreneurs changing the world.

Lilith Fair will contribute $1 from every ticket sold to the Lilith i4c Campaign, which will support four exceptional change-making enterprises:

Alter Eco is a fair trade certified foods company that connects you to small independent farmers across the globe. Alter Eco offers healthy, earth-friendly treats like chocolate, quinoa, rice, and olive oil. They work with over 200 farmer co-ops to improve communities in the developing world. Last year, Alter Eco showed extreme commitment to the earth with they planted 70,000 new trees in Amazonia through Project Pure. Find their treats and farmers at www.altereco-usa.com

Grameen America is a nonprofit microfinance bank that offers small loans to entrepreneurs living below the poverty line. Muhammad Yunus, Grameen Bank’s founder and chairman, was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2006 for enabling the poor to climb out of poverty. Previously excluded from entrepreneurial opportunities, poor entrepreneurs with no collateral or credit history are now able to access capital to grow their business and increase their quality of living. Grameen America has provided more than $6 million in loans to 2,800 borrowers—all women—living in poverty. To date, borrowers have deposited savings of more than $350,000.
