2010 LILITH TOUR ANNOUNCEMENT

July 1, 2010 (New York, NY) –The 2010 Lilith Tour is announcing the cancellation of 10 upcoming shows: Salt Lake City (7/12), Montreal (7/23), Raleigh (8/4), Charlotte (8/6), West Palm Beach (8/10), Tampa (8/11), Birmingham (8/12), Austin (8/14), Houston (8/15) and Dallas (8/16). Refunds are available at point of purchase.

“We are in the midst of one of the most challenging summer concert seasons with many tours being cancelled outright,” says Lilith co-founder Terry McBride. “Everyone involved with the tour would like to apologize to the fans and artists scheduled to play in these markets, and express appreciation for all the support for the festival’s return. Lilith remains the only tour of its kind, and we are confident that fans will be amazed by what each date has to offer.”

In light of these cancellations, some artists who were set to appear later in the tour may be performing in other cities.

Please check LilithFair.com for the most up to date information for each city.

Lilith 2010, the only touring festival featuring an all-female line-up, returned after an 11-year hiatus this past Sunday, June 27 in Calgary with over 9,000 fans in attendance and a line-up that included Sugarland, Erykah Badu, Sheryl Crow, Grace Potter & The Nocturnals, Colbie Caillat and Sarah McLachlan. Check out the video footage of the festivities from Calgary (HERE) and Edmonton (HERE).

As with the original Lilith Fair, Lilith 2010 offers fans a celebratory and engaging atmosphere that creates a sense of community among attendees and artists. Upon entering the festival, fans are greeted by the Lilith Village, where they can explore the various charitable and social organizations with which Lilith is aligned, including the i4c Campaign and the local charity winner. They’ll also have the opportunity to take advantage of the fantastic perks offered by the Lilith sponsors, like Crystal Light’s “Refreshing Oasis” with cooling mist, massage chairs and free samples of Crystal Light Pure Fitness, the “Lilipad Lounge,” from the makers of STAYFREE®, CAREFREE® and o.b.®, offering a refreshing towelette bar and plenty of freebies, or Nalgene’s commemorative Lilith water bottles that fans can purchase and refill throughout the day at provided hydration stations.

The musical festivities begin shortly after doors open (approx 2:00 pm daily) with a performance by the OurStage.com local talent winner, followed by eight hours and three stages of continuous female-fronted live music from up-and-coming artists and established acts across multiple genres, all tied together by one main theme: the celebration of women in music.

Lilith 2010 sponsors include: Crystal Light, Chevrolet, Degree For Women, STAYFREE®, CAREFREE® and o.b.®, Nalgene, REVERB (With Tour Greening Proudly Supported By LUNA®), CTV (Canada), ABC (US), More Magazine, WNBA, Momento Mori, New Leaf Paper

I has a sad.

I'm very disappointed that not only was the show that was going to play in my town cancelled, but apparently all the shows in Florida. I really was thrilled when I saw that the show was on my birthday, and had plans to go with friends to the concert.

Well, I'll hope to see Sarah doing her own tour in support of the new album at some point. I really love the new music on the album, and Sarah sounds as wonderful as ever.

should have been cancelled

I am disappointed that the Chula Vista Lilith was not cancelled, as you refuse to refund my $1500 despite the main attraction, the Gogos, cancellation, and despite the fact that it says on your web site in the news flash about the Gogos that tickets would be refunded. Other people have been able to get refunds, depending on how nice the agent at ticketmaster was. I feel totally robbed and I think your behavior is totally unethical. If a main act cancels, money should be refunded.

Wow, I am dissapointed, but why the personal attacks

I had tickets for shows in NC and Atlanta, Ga. Two very hot states in August. I wondered about the tour starting so far north and moving down to the hottest regions during the hottest months. But..I wanted to see the show bad enough to buy lawn seat. At 25-35 dollars per ticket, not very expensive. I hoped it would allow my friends and I to have a little space. Figured it would be better than sitting in a confined row.
I purchased the tickets because I wanted to see the show and wanted to have three of my friends enjoy the day with me. I'm curious as to why all the shows in the Ga, NC, Fla. Texas and Alabama area were canceled.
Prior comments made some good points. If the shows were canceled because of poor ticket sales, that's a shame. I agree it is not fair to all the people who did plan to come to cancel just because there weren't as many tickets sold as expected. Atlanta was scheduled for Aug. 8th. Now, Sarah is going to perform there, at a different venue, on Aug. 7th instead of the 8th. I had taken off the 6th for NC, was to work on the 7th and off again for the 8th, Atlanta concert. Now, I get to miss all of the music and the environment I wanted to be a part of and enjoy.
All of that being said, I can't help but feel the name calling was uncalled for. I have a tendency to express my disappoint as anger. I've had to work on that. As a female, I find the use of the word cu.., an insult to my being. I've heard this term used by males and a few females as a means to degrade the women it is being used against. Attack the issue or the behavior but the not the person or their sexuality. Women can be their own worst enemies. We destroy each other instead of standing together as a united group. Until that changes, our rights for equality in all areas of life, will remain a dream instead of a reality.

Ticket Holder's Rights

With regard to the Tampa cancellation, please advise why the concert was advertised and tickets remained for sale at a time when it was know by event staff that the date would be cancelled.

Poor ticket sales is no cause to cancel the event and igrnore the rights of ticket holders.

You are obliged to hold the event even if there is a meager crowd present.

Dissappointed

I am kind of sad this is happening, but to be honest I am not surprised. I went to the Fair in the 90s and had a blast.
The problem is Sarah was more popular in the 90s than now. That's mainly because she's was really out of the limelight for a long time. Maybe if she did more promotion, it might have put her in the forefront.
I think the line up could have been better too. I would have tried to get people like Katy Perry, Lady Gaga people with more relevence with music today.
Thinking back that's the way it was with the first fair, and they should have made more of an effort to do the same now. When I went to the fair, it was Paula Cole, Cardigans, Tracy Chapman, Indigo Girls, Fiona Apple, and of course Sarah.
I look at the line up in my area, and I don't even know more than halfthe acts, and the ones I do know with the exception of Sarah, have no desire to see. Not knocking the acts, but if I am going to spend that kind of money, I want to make sure I am going to have a good time!
Sorry, am not going to pay 100 bucks for Sarah alone. Love the fair and love Sarah, but I would rather wait unless she does a solo tour.

Its a shame

All of us who's shows were canceled are obviously disappointed. They are offering a refund which is great but it totally sucks that something we have all been looking forward to for years has been taken away from us. Just wanted to through my thoughts out there and for those of you that have been saying ignorant comments about the performers being "dikes" You really should educate yourself because the correct spelling is "DYKES". Even if the whole show was filled with lesbians the music is awesome...the atmosphere is awesome and if you bought tickets obviously you did that for some reason. Its disappointing but get a refund like everyone else and then you will see that life goes on. And by the way...you may not know it....but everywhere you turn "dykes" are ALL around you. :)

Luckypirate

First of all Nashville and Dallas are both canceled so I wont get to see any. Obviously people thought the ticket prices were too much because that is the reason for the cancellations. The reason I am calling them dikes now is because like you said "That's Bullshit" they just go ahead and cancel all the shows becuase they were idiots and thought everyone wanted to go see these (bitches?). I'm going to go out on a limb and say most people are going to these shows to see one performer just like you. I know many people who have already made travel arrangements to see all these shows and now they cant get there money back. It is unfair to do to people.

THAT'S BULLSHIT

I didn't want to resort to name-calling here, but in response to your comment, I would like to say that YOU are the cunt. How the FUCK are you going to sit and bitch about the cost of tickets to "watch a bunch of dykes play" when you've bought tickets, not just to one show, but FIVE fucking shows????? I'm almost positive that the majority of the performers are not "dykes" and even if they were, no one forced you to purchase tickets in the first place. I paid 150.00 just to see the Indigo Girls, so I don't know why you're complaining. I mean, you're paying, what I consider to be, a small price to see 10-12 performers play for 6-8 hours. I think most people would agree that the prices are fair.......as for the cancellation, won't you be receiving a refund??? Again, I don't see what you're complaining about. I understand your frustration at 3 of the shows you purchased tickets for being canceled, but you will still get to see the Dallas and Nashville shows so WTF??? I'm also wondering how much of a fan of Sarah or Lilith Fair you really are. You're making comments like "dykes playing" and calling Sarah a "cunt" and obviously think poorly of her with your "grimy shit" comment, but then you're bitching because you bought tickets to 5 shows, 3 of which were canceled...????? So which is it? OR are you one of those people who bought tickets so you could resell them to make a profit??? I don't get it and I'm sure others are puzzled as well, so could you please enlighten us?? I will get off my soap-box, but in doing so, I will say that if you feel this strongly about your situation, why don't you do all of us a favor and get a refund for all your shows because no one wants some "dyke" hating, Sarah/Lilith Fair hating "fan" to ruin the experience for the rest of us, so keep your rude, ignorant ass at home.

response

I'm sorry to see so many concert dates canceled, like the previous commenter, however I'm more disappointed people have to use crude, insensitive and down right disrespectful name calling to voice their disappointment. I'm hopeful the artist from the canceled shows will attempt to make a presence at other festivals and that it works out for Lilith Fair to continue.

You guys suck

You guys should be ashamed of yourselves. Many people were looking forward to these dates and you just cancel them? Maybe when you decided to put this together you should have kept in mind that people are not going to pay a ridiculous amount of money for a horrible seat! I can also see why if someone wanted a good seat why they would not pay $100+ to see a bunch of dikes play.
I had tickets for Raleigh, Charlotte, Austin, Dallas, and Nashville and I was very excited for all of these. Hey Sarah! are you sure that you didnt want some of your summer back like you had recently said on Chelsea Lately?
Sarah you are a cunt and I don't even care if this was not directly related to you! F*ck Lilith and all this grimy shit you have been doing.
